Big Data Meet-Up in Sofia

On May 16, the European Big Data Value PPP (Public-Private Partnership) met in Sofia, Bulgaria. The event was organized by the PPP with the twofold objective of strengthening collaboration among the community members and increasing the visibility and awareness of the PPP in Eastern Europe in general, and Bulgaria in particular. Representatives of the European Commission and from Bulgaria contributed to the success of the event with interesting keynote speeches.

Workshops and parallel meetings on current PPP projects on May 14 and 15 preceded the event. Andreas Metzger from paluno and Ed Curry from the Irish Data Analytics Research Centre Insight (see picture) chaired a meeting of the PPP Technical Committee. The participants discussed the focus of the 33 PPP projects and the gaps that need to be filled by future research and innovation projects.

Prof. Dr. Klaus Pohl's Software Systems Engineering working group is a founding member of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA), the private sector part of the PPP. The core mission of the BDVe project - Big Data Value eCosystem is to support the PPP in building an active, data-driven EU economy and community.
