What you can expect

PhD Graduation

The focus of your PhD topic is set according to your personal interests and knowledge. Your research activities generally are part of our research projects. You will approach the state of the art in research areas related to your topic through your own literature analyses and visiting internationally renowned scientific conferences. We supervise your PhD intensely. Information on our PhD process can be found online.

Responsibility and Education

Besides your PhD undertaking, you will also support our working group in both research and teaching. To support your research and teaching activities, you will guide students and research assistants.  

Network

The Software Systems Engineering research group is part of the research institute paluno (The Ruhr Institute for Software Technology), in which ten professors and their teams, a total of more than 100 academic staff members, join forces. You will cooperate closely with our partners from industry and academia in the context of our European and national research projects.  

Your profile

You have recently completed your studies in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Business Information Systems, or a related area with excellent or good results. You are creative, you enjoy working in a team, and you have remarkable analytical skills. You are highly interested in delving into complex, interdisciplinary research questions, and developing innovative results addressing current challenges. You have gathered initial experience in industrial software development (optional).  

Begin of employment: At earliest convenience 
Contract duration: 3 years
Working hours: Full-time
