For years, there has been a significant shift in engineering of embedded and cyber-physical systems towards dynamically formed collaborative systems of cyber-physical systems. Dynamic system clusters are essential to technology-driven visions of the future, as exemplified by automatic transport of humans and things; Smart Cities; advanced medicine technology; intelligent factories; and Assisted Living. In the joint project, CrESt partners from industry and academia will develop and test solutions for the challenges that emerge from dynamically coupled systems of embedded and cyber-physical systems. The methodological framework for engineering of embedded systems that has been developed as part of the BMBF-funded research initiative SPES (Software Platform Embedded Systems, 2009-2015) serves as a basis for above-described endeavor.
The Software Systems Engineering Group at University of Duisburg-Essen is lead of the project „EC5: Context Uncertainty“ and develops jointly with partners from industry and academia concepts, techniques and methods to solve the engineering challenges “EC4: Dynamic Context” and “EC6: Context Awareness”. Additionally, the researchers from the Software Systems Engineering Group contribute to the work in the cross-cutting areas “Modelling Methodology” and “Function”.
