TransformingTransport: Big Data Value in Mobility and Logistics

The TransformingTransport lighthouse project will demonstrate, in a realistic, measurable, and replicable way the transformative effects that Big Data will have to the mobility and logistics market.

The TransformingTransport lighthouse project will demonstrate, in a realistic, measurable, and replicable way the transformative effects that Big Data will have to the mobility and logistics market. TransformingTransport will address seven pilot domains of major importance for the mobility and logistics sector in 13 pilots. These pilots will show how reshaping transport processes and services will significantly increase operational efficiency, deliver improved customer experience, and foster new business models. Current forecasts expect that a 10% efficiency improvement may lead to EU cost savings of 100 billion Euros.

TransformingTransport will address seven pilot domains of major importance for the mobility and logistics sector: „Smart Highways“, „Sustainable Vehicle Fleets“, „Proactive Rail Infrastructures“, „Ports as Intelligent Logistics Hubs“, „Efficient Air Transport“, „Multi-modal Urban Mobility“, „Dynamic Supply Chains“. The project will thereby deliver reusable Big Data solutions for all sectors.

A total of 32 European industry members and 4 public bodies participate in TransformingTransport  and are strengthened by competencies and skills of 12 leading European knowledge providers (transfer and applied research institutes).
paluno (working group SSE) is in charge of the technical coordination of the project. Additionally paluno coordinates a pilot in the domain „Ports as Intelligent Logistic Hubs“. Together with duisport and Software AG paluno will develop innovative Big Data logistics control towers, which will enable proactive decision making with the help of predictive and prescriptive analytics. Furthermore, solutions for predictive maintenance (planning of maintenance based on Big Data analysis) will be developed and validated.
